The Atman Yoga School offers a comprehensive yoga teacher training that is focused around ayurveda and yoga philosophy, and examines all eight limbs of yoga. Approximately 50 hours of this teacher training explore Ayurveda, yoga philosophy, and subtle body anatomy. Immerse yourself in the practices and lifestyle of Ayurveda while learning how to teach yoga and deepen your personal studies.

Enjoy delicious vegetarian + Ayurvedic cuisine designed to nourish and energetically support your body during this training, and during days off, book an Ayurvedic massage or Jyotish reading (additional cost). This training features anatomy, alignment, intelligent sequencing, history/lineage of yoga, chanting, sutra and text study, meditation, pranayama, mantra, practice teaching, the business of yoga, teaching and voice fundamentals, ethics, theming and music, and the how and why of taking the seat of a teacher.

Through this training, explore ways to consciously live your yoga practice off your mat, and incorporate compassionate and mindful actions into your daily life. Learn the nuts-and-bolts of how to effectively and safely guide a physical practice, supported by the wisdom and knowledge of ayurveda and yoga philosophy.

Each day of the training starts with an asana practice, followed by lectures, study, and group activities. After lunch, the afternoons are filled with pose and alignment practicum, teaching fundamentals, and practice teaching. The training schedule is 6 days on, with the 7th day free to rest, swim in the pool, receive Ayurvedic treatments, visit the beach, or walk around the beautiful retreat center grounds. Outside the group classroom hours, journaling, reading, homework assignments, and self-study are required parts of the training. Homework and reading assignments will be assigned prior to training starting. Included in the training are master workshops such as Arm Balances, Inversions, and Backbends.


The Samata Holistic Retreat Center is a premier luxury yoga retreat facility located in the lush jungles of Goa, India. The Center serves fresh, seasonal and Ayurvedic food- much of which was grown in the property garden. The Center boasts gorgeous guest villas, inspiring yoga shalas, an onsite pool, and a fully-functioning holistic healing clinic.


All of the cottages are built from traditional style Indonesian village homes, all from recycled teak wood. The cottages have a rustic yet elegant architecture that has a temple feeling. All rooms have AC, a private en suite bathroom, hot water, wifi, and a safe for your valuables. Rooms will be cleaned, and clean bedding and towels provided throughout the training.

The Amrit Kitchen at Samata uses quality organic ingredients, locally sourced foods and fresh picked herbs, veggies, and fruits from their vast garden space. They keep Ayurvedic guidelines and principles of food-combining in the preparation of all our meals for optimal health and digestion. All yoga practices, lectures, and group training activities will take place in the Mango Shala, a 12x 12 meter open floor studio that has hardwood bamboo floor and surrounding mosquito netting. The Shala is fully equipped with mats, blocks, bolsters, and straps.

JESSICA WINDERL Jessica Winderl is a yoga teacher (ERYT 500), Ayurveda Yoga Therapist, and the Founder + Director of the Atman Yoga School. She teaches and lectures at yoga festivals across the US and Europe (including the Bhakti Fest, Copenhagen Yoga Festival, Sedona Yoga Festival, Oslo Yoga Festival, and the Arctic Yoga Conference), and leads workshops and teacher trainings in Europe and India. Kelsi Ludvigsen is a half-American and half-Norwegian yoga teacher who currently calls Paris, France home. She is the co-founder of Leela Yoga Studio in the heart of Oslo, Norway. Kelsi also teaches several retreats internationally every year, and this is her third time returning to Samata in Goa. Teaching and weaving together her many influences, her classes are filled with intention, curiosity, and self-exploration. With an inquisitive heart, she loves to sequence classes that guide and empower her students to soften the nervous system through asana and to lean into presence and a nourishing self-expression. Insurance: It is highly recommended that you purchase travel insurance for this teacher training, in case of an unforseen emergency or trip cancellation.

PassportYour passport must be valid for a period of 60 days after you return to your home country.

Visa: You can apply for an Indian tourist e-visa online within 60 days of your trip departure. Cost is approximately $70USD, and you need to upload a recent photo and a copy of your passport. You will receive your approved visa via email 2-3 days after your submit it, and you must carry a signed printout of the visa in your passport. Link here

VaccinationsMake sure you are up-to-date on routine vaccines before your trip. These vaccines include measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine, diphtheria-tetanus-pertussis vaccine, varicella (chickenpox) vaccine, polio vaccine, and your yearly flu shot. Ask your doctor if you need a booster shot for any of these. Additionally recommended vaccines for India are Hepatitis A (and maybe B) and Typhoid. By Plane: Book your flight to the Goa Dabolim Airport (GOI). Samata is 1.5 hour drive from the airport. We recommend flying direct into Goa if possible to avoid the long and arduous process of transfering from International to Domestic Terminal in Delhi or Mumbai. If traveling from Europe or abroad, Qatar airlines has flights direct into Goa.  Air India operates a flight direct from Dubai. Thomson has a direct flight from the UK, and Condor has direct flights from Munich. We are happy to offer advice for travel into Goa; just ask.

By Train: The closest train stations to Samata are Pernem Station or Tivim Station, which are 30-45 drive away. Vasco and Margao stations are around 1.5 hours away.

By Bus: The closest bus station to Samata is Mapusa, 30 minutes away;  Panjim station is also convenient, only 45 minutes away.

Taxis : Taxis are readily available at all airports, train stations, and bus stations. Once you book with us, we will give you detailed instructions how to arrange your own taxi transfer to Samata as well as suggested prices you will have to pay. We will give you the contact information and maps so that your driver will deliver you safely to Samata.
